Aldi to offer quicker payments for smaller produce farmers and suppliers
Aldi is offering quicker payments for small produce farmers and suppliers as part of its continued commitment to supporting British businesses and the wider farming community.

The move follows a period of dry weather across the UK that has placed additional strain on growers. With a hotter-than-normal summer in forecast, the measure is intended to help smaller suppliers manage cashflow challenges.

Under the new initiative, all fresh produce suppliers who have a turnover of under £5 million will be offered new, quicker payment terms for the remainder of 2025.

The changes take effect immediately and form part of Aldi’s broader commitment to long-term, fair relationships with British growers. Eligible suppliers have been invited to apply for the scheme.

Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: “We know smaller growers are under real pressure - from a dry spring to rising input costs - and we want to do what we can to help. These shorter payment terms are a small, practical step to give them quicker access to cash and a bit more flexibility as the season progresses.”

The supermarket remains committed to supporting British farming, not only through fair trading practices but also by upholding the UK’s high food safety and animal welfare standards.

Aldi has recently pledged to maintain these standards even if current regulations are relaxed under future international trade deals. UK rules currently prohibit imports such as chlorinated chicken and hormone-treated beef - products that remain common in some global markets.
