John Farrand is managing director of the Guild of Fine Food, the organisation at the centre of the UK artisanal food and drink world. Responsible for the internationally recognised Great Taste and World Cheese Awards, the Guild of Fine Food also publishes Fine Food Digest, a leading trade magazine and heads up a trade association created to support and encourage greater professionalism in speciality food and drink. John also sits on the steering group of the Independent Retail Confederation, the government’s Food and Drink Sector Council and Defra’s Agri-food SME group, making him a true advocate for supporting small producers and local retailers.
