Set amidst the rolling Kandyan foothills of Sri Lanka, the Rosyth Artisan Tea Factory is more than just a tea producer – it is a social enterprise dedicated to crafting the finest quality artisan teas while supporting and enriching the local community. Many of our team have deep, generational ties to the Rosyth Estate, which was first established in the early 20th century and will celebrate its centenary in 2026.
Our journey took a pivotal turn in 2022 when a devastating fire destroyed a nearby tea factory, leaving the estate and its workers without a production facility. Tea cultivation – and the livelihoods it supported – hung in the balance. In response, the current custodians of Rosyth established the Artisan Tea Factory in 2023, safeguarding jobs, preserving tradition, and breathing new life into the region’s tea industry.
We are committed to building a sustainable, long-term future, with a clear vision of returning to fully organic cultivation. Every decision – from field to factory – reflects our belief in quality over quantity, respect for the land, and fair opportunity for our people.
Our signature Orange Pekoe range embodies the care and craftsmanship at the heart of Rosyth. Handpicked by skilled artisans from our lush tea gardens, only the finest first leaf and a bud are selected for processing. Our Ceylon Bliss OP1 is delicately hand-rolled to preserve its light, floral notes and elegant finish, while our traditional BFOP and BOPs are hand-pounded to release a deeper aroma and create a rich, full-bodied cup. Small-batch production allows us to preserve the unique character of each tea, ensuring every sip reflects the beauty and bounty of our estate.
Visitors to Rosyth can witness the complete journey from leaf to cup, learning about traditional Ceylon tea-making methods through guided tours and hands-on experiences. Here, guests not only discover the craftsmanship behind artisan tea but also the human stories interwoven with every harvest – stories of resilience, pride, and heritage.
At the Rosyth Artisan Tea Factory, tea is more than a product. It is a tradition kept alive through skill, dedication, and community spirit. With every leaf we pluck and every cup we pour, we honour our past, enrich our present, and nurture a sustainable future for generations to come.
