Founded in 1999 by Husband and Wife Mark & Maria Whitehead MBE, the Hawkshead Relish Company began as a small cafe in the Heart of the English Lake District. They originally started making their own Jams, Chutneys and preserves to accompany dishes in their cafe. After the foot and mouth epidemic of 2001, customer demand for the preserves quickly grew and the couple took the decision to close the cafe and concentrate on the production of their jars of condiments.
Today, the company has over 30 members of staff who proudly produce over 120 handmade products. With over 80 Great Taste Awards to their range, the company is well known for producing high quality and innovative products as well as a good selection of more traditional lines. In 2017, the company launched The Original Black Garlic Ketchup, which picked up a World Food Innovation Award, and is now the company's best selling product.
As well as their retail range, Hawkshead Relish also produce a range of Foodservice products and gifting items. The company can also offer own label/white label products.
The full range is naturally Nut Free, Gluten Free and vegetarian with most of the range also being vegan friendly.
