Welcome to Barti - home of the award-winning rum, infused with a bold coastal spirit.

Proudly Pembrokeshire-based, Welsh, and B Corp certified, we create unique award-winning products inspired by the wild coast we call home. At the heart of it all is one surprisingly powerful ingredient: wild hand-picked laver seaweed, known locally as "Welshman's caviar."

It all started in 2017 with a man once nicknamed “The Crazy Seaweed Man” by TV chef James Martin – a food lover, sea lover, and adventurer with a dream to craft something unforgettable. Taking inspiration from Barti Ddu (Black Bart) - Pembrokeshire’s legendary pirate, rum fan, and seaweed enthusiast, he set out to make a rum like no other.

After over a year of refining the recipe, Barti Spiced Rum was born.

Made with fine Caribbean rum, blended with vanilla, clove, cinnamon, citrus, and our signature seaweed infusion, it’s smooth, punchy, and completely unique. In 2024, it was named “Best Rum” at the Great British Food Awards - a proud moment for a passionate team with a big idea.

Today, Barti is more than just rum - it’s a whole collection of tasty tipples and flavourful crafted treats. From our vegan, plant-based Barti Cream liqueur that combines velvety cream with a hint of coastal savoury depth, to our Barti BBQ Sauce that brings smoky-sweet flavour with an umami-rich seaweed twist - perfect for elevating that summer BBQ or everyday meals.

From the surf breaks that sparked our journey to the creative adventure we’re still on, Barti is built on flavour discoveries, the wild Welsh coast and a love of doing things differently.
