New sustainable brand Kindred Forest to debut rare wild chocolate and other rainforest products at Speciality & Fine Food Fair 2025

Kindred Forest is a curator of extraordinary nature. As the planet’s resources are depleted by extractive practices that exploit and undervalue nature, the brand offers a different way forward: one grounded in ethics, transparency and regeneration. Guided by the collective wisdom of Indigenous and scientific communities, Kindred Forest sustainably sources the rarest and finest forest ingredients, protecting and restoring both wild ecosystems and the traditional cultures that sustain them.

Kindred Forest will make its debut at Speciality & Fine Food Fair 2025, unveiling a curated collection of wild Bolivian chocolate, organic arenga forest sugar, and Wildlife Friendly® specialty coffee. From the Bolivian Amazon to the volcanic highlands of Sumatra and the lowland rainforests of Java, the products are single-origin and sourced directly from biodiverse ecosystems. Harvested in small batches and crafted according to age-old traditions using nature-led processes, the collection is rooted in nature, made with care, and rare by design.

The Collection:

Kindred Spirit

Kindred Forest Wild Beniano Chocolate
70g | RRP £8.50 | Trade £5.20 (ex. VAT)
This exquisite dark chocolate bar is made from wild-harvested Beniano cacao, a rare heirloom variety found deep in the Bolivian Amazon. Grown and fermented by Indigenous communities using time-honoured methods, the beans are carefully selected and dried by cacao expert Volker Lehmann at the Tranquilidad Wild Cacao Forest Hacienda. They are then transformed into a bar that captures the rainforest’s rich, aromatic character in Cornwall by Chocolarder, one of the UK’s finest craft chocolate makers. Twenty per cent of profits from each bar are reinvested into the Theobroma Foundation to protect the ancient forests, their biodiversity, and the communities whose livelihoods depend on them.

Organic Arenga Forest Sugar
275g / 500g / 1kg | RRP from £3.95 | Trade from £2.80 (No VAT)
A wild-harvested sugar from the Indonesian rainforest, made from the sap of Arenga pinnata palms using traditional methods powered by geothermal steam. Produced without deforestation or firewood, it is low GI, unrefined, retains its minerals and is processed using volcanic geothermal energy, making the production completely carbon negative. This sugar is as good for people as it is for the planet. It plays a vital role in the Masarang Foundation’s mission to restore Indonesia's rainforest and combat climate change.

Single Origin Specialty Indonesian Coffee
225g / 1kg | RRP £11 (Arabica), £8 (Robusta) | Trade from £4–5.50
Kindred Forest is launching three Indonesian coffees grown under shade in agroforestry systems and forest gardens and processed using uncommon, artisanal methods. Each coffee comes in packaging inspired by traditional batik and features QR code traceability back to origin.

  • Kerinci Honey & Full-wash Arabica: From the volcanic slopes of Mount Kerinci, Sumatra, this shade-grown coffee is grown at high altitudes on rich volcanic soil. The honey-processed coffee offers a unique flavour profile characterised by vibrant brightness and subtle sweetness, also available in a full-wash variety. In partnership with ALKO, a farmer-owned cooperative, Kindred Forest supports a shared vision of empowering farmers and preserving nature, ensuring the long-term protection of Kerinci National Park.

  • Cisurupan Natural Arabica: A Wildlife Friendly® certified coffee grown in West Java in collaboration with the Little Fireface Project. This exceptional coffee results from direct engagement with local farmers and the conservation work of Professor Anna Nekaris OBE, protecting endangered slow lorises while supporting community livelihoods.

  • Petungkriyono Robusta: A specialty Indonesian robusta grown in the lowland rainforests of Central Java and certified Wildlife Friendly®. This coffee is produced in partnership with the SwaraOwa Foundation and is shade-grown under the rainforest canopy before being processed using the natural method. It offers a smooth, quality profile while contributing to the conservation of endangered gibbons and the broader forest ecosystem, forming part of a regenerative model that supports biodiversity and community resilience.

Kindred Forest will welcome buyers, chefs, retailers and media to discover the rainforest collection at Stand 3609 this September.
