Nestled in the Breede River Valley of South Africa’s Western Cape, RIO LARGO OLIVE ESTATE is a story of passion, perseverance, and uncompromising quality. Founded in 2010 by Brenda and Nick Wilkinson, the estate has become one of South Africa’s most awarded olive oil producers, celebrated across the globe in New York, Italy, Japan, and the UAE.
What began as a personal journey for health soon became a calling. Nick, a Chartered Accountant turned Master Miller, and Brenda, the brand’s storyteller, combined discipline and vision to produce world-class extra virgin olive oil. Their 200-hectare estate, with its fertile soils and Mediterranean climate, provides the perfect terroir for Italian olive cultivars. Every tree is cared for by a loyal team, hand-pruned and hand-picked to preserve quality.
At the heart of the estate lies a state-of-the-art mill designed by Italy’s Giorgio Mori. Olives are pressed within hours of harvest, cultivar by cultivar, under strict hygiene standards. The result is oil of exceptional freshness, rich in polyphenols, with aromas of green grass and artichoke, balanced by a peppery finish.
RIO LARGO’s red fox logo reflects the brand’s adaptability and elegance. Beyond producing award-winning oil, the Wilkinsons pioneered sustainable, patented decanter packaging: reusable, practical, and stylish, with refill bags that keep oil fresh and reduce waste. Collaborations with artists have turned these decanters into collectible pieces, with names such as Midnight Bloom or Protea Blush.
