Peeled Chestnut

Gongju City Korea Agricultural Excellence Stand: 2057
Gongju’s peeled chestnuts, called “Gwanbam,” are famous for their natural sweetness, smooth texture, and rich nutrients. Grown in the clean, fertile mountains of Gongju, these chestnuts are high in vitamins A, B1, B2, calcium, and iron, making them a healthy snack. Gongju accounts for about 17% of Korea’s chestnut production and is the nation’s only officially designated chestnut special zone. With a long tradition of skilled cultivation and excellent storage quality, Gongju’s chestnuts are enjoyed fresh or cooked. They are peeled for convenience but retain their deep, nutty flavor. The people of Gongju take great pride in this local treasure, sharing it widely at festivals and markets.
