The English Tea Shop's Speciality & Fine Food Fair Journey
)
Speciality & Fine Food Fair catches up with long-time exhibitor English Tea Shop to hear more about the business' growth at the Fair.
What does English Tea Shop do?
We’re English Tea Shop—an organic, specialty tea company with a passion for organic tea and community. Made with care for people and planet, our teas are enjoyed in over 60 countries around the world. We make a wide range of everyday teas, occasion-based and seasonal tea gifts.
Tell us about your first time at the Fair
Our first appearance at the Fair was back in the early 2000s, when we were just beginning to step into the UK market. It was an exciting time—full of discovery and meaningful conversations with like-minded partners. We’ve always delighted in meeting people, sharing samples, and hearing their feedback on our teas.
Since then, we’ve come a long way as a business, but our focus has remained the same: the speciality fine food industry and the independent retail sector. That’s why the show has always been a perfect fit for us.
How has your business evolved since then?
It's been quite the journey since then. Not only have we now got over 50 popcorn flavours, and won over 80 Great Taste Awards, but we relocated into a brand new “Popcorn HQ” in North London, gained a few new J&S team members, and secured some amazing new listings. You can now find Joe & Seph's in most premium independent food stores across the UK as well as in most cinemas and theatres too!
Why is the Fair a good fit for your brand?
The Fair brings together individuals and businesses that appreciate quality, craft, and purpose. It’s a space where we can share our story, connect with partners who value sustainability, and explore new opportunities to grow—organically, of course.
Do you have any new products that you'll be showcasing at this year's event?
Yes we are excited to show our new products in different styles.
Do you have any examples of listings you've gained through taking part in the Fair?
We've met buyers from Boots, WHSmith, Fenwick, John Lewis and 100s of other independents.
What would you say to a business considering exhibiting for the first time?
If you are a new business who is looking to grow your brand – this is a perfect opportunity to meet people who are in the same sector who share the same mindsets and passion for organic. Just go with the flow, be open to learn and listen to people. Also have lower expectations of taking orders and converting leads then and there. That will happen in time. Most importantly have fun.
