At RIO LARGO Olive Estate, we produce award-winning extra virgin olive oil on the banks of the Breede River in South Africa’s Scherpenheuwel valley. With a Mediterranean style climate, rich soils, and sustainable farming practices, we’ve created an environment where our trees thrive and our extra virgin olive oil flourishes.

 

We grow a selection of Italian olive cultivars which are hand-picked at the perfect stage of ripeness and processed on site within hours of harvesting. Every step is overseen by Nick Wilkinson, a certified Master Miller, using cutting-edge equipment from Mori-Tem in Italy to ensure we retain the full flavour and health benefits of the olive oil.

Our olive oil is a balanced blend, smooth, fresh, and robust; consistently recognized on the world stage. RIO LARGO has been awarded top honours both in South Africa and on the global stage including BEST OF CLASS in New York, France and Italy, and was one of the original recipients of South Africa’s ABSA Top 5 way back in 2012.

But RIO LARGO is more than a product. We are a family-run estate, with a dedicated team who have been with us since our first harvest in 2010. Our people are the heart of everything we do- skilled, passionate, and proud.

Sustainability is at our core. We believe in long-term soil health, biodiversity, and conscious packaging. In 2025, we launched a global first: a reusable olive oil decanter designed for convenience, freshness, and zero waste. It’s part of our mission to make great olive oil easier to enjoy every day.

The Next Chapter for Speciality & Fine Food Fair

From 2027, Speciality & Fine Food Fair will take place 5 – 7 April at Excel London, as part of Food, Drink & Hospitality Week to be the UK’s largest food & drink trade event.

This exciting move will connect our incredible community of speciality producers and buyers with 25,000+ verified trade visitors, creating even more opportunities for products to be discovered, tasted and stocked by buyers across retail, hospitality, wholesale and foodservice.

To prepare for this exciting launch, the Fair will not be taking place in 2026, returning in its new format in 2027.

While the scale grows, the heart of the Fair stays the same - a curated showcase of exceptional producers and a spirit of discovery, now with even greater commercial reach.
