Koshi Sushi Rice 5kg

EMMA BASIC Stand: 1831
  • SUPERIOR GRADE — AWARD-WINNING FLAVOUR: All short-grain rice can be used for sushi, but quality varies greatly. Most short-grain rice found in the UK and Europe is Originario (from China) or Selenio (an Italian variety) grown in Northern Italy, both similar in profile to Japonica rice. Emma Basic’s authentic Japonica variety, cultivated in Vietnam, delivers a distinctly superior taste and texture — a quality recognised with the prestigious 2025 Great Taste 3-Star Award.
  • PERFECT TEXTURE: Do you cook your pasta to Al dente? If yes, then this is the rice for you, sticky yet firm. This is curcial because the rice must hold its shape when forming sushi but still be soft and pleasant to eat . the righ balance of stickiness ensures it binds well to other sushi ingredients without being overly mushy or dry , delicious. Simply cook the rice and enjoy with a pinch of salt.
  • BEYOND SUSHI: In Emma's personal opinion, sushi is not a daily food in japan. Sushi is for wedding, birthday, New Year eve etc. Rice is daily food. You don’t have to make sushi, simply cook rice it goes well with any vegetable, meat or fish
  • RICH SOIL & WATER: Grown by farmers in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam: "The rice bowl of Vietnam region". The Delta's rich soil is ideally suited for growing rice. It provides the foundation to grow rice with consistency in texture and taste.
  • Ideal 5kg: Not too big for families and not too small for restaurant professional kitchen.

The Next Chapter for Speciality & Fine Food Fair

From 2027, Speciality & Fine Food Fair will take place 5 – 7 April at Excel London, as part of Food, Drink & Hospitality Week to be the UK’s largest food & drink trade event.

This exciting move will connect our incredible community of speciality producers and buyers with 25,000+ verified trade visitors, creating even more opportunities for products to be discovered, tasted and stocked by buyers across retail, hospitality, wholesale and foodservice.

To prepare for this exciting launch, the Fair will not be taking place in 2026, returning in its new format in 2027.

While the scale grows, the heart of the Fair stays the same - a curated showcase of exceptional producers and a spirit of discovery, now with even greater commercial reach.
