Reimagining Tea Production with Tradition and Quality: Under the guidance of the owners and a new team, the initiative starts with extensive replanting of the tea fields, moving towards organic cultivation. Since 2023 more than 10,000 new plants were planted. A fresh approach to plucking has been adopted. Only the freshest leaves and buds are carefully plucked and sorted before being hand-processed through withering, rolling, fermentation, and drying. This small-batch production ensures meticulous attention to quality at every step, resulting in a refined and distinctive taste that captures the essence of Ceylon tea.
A Dream Realized in Record Time: The construction of the micro factory has been fast-tracked & The team has been expertly trained, and the partnership with other artisanal manufacturers and the Ceylon Artisanal Tea Association (CATA) promises to deliver the highest quality hand-crafted teas.
A Sustainable Enterprise with Global Aspirations: Currently, teas manufactured on the Rosyth Estate are available at the hotel's boutique and served to hotel guests. As production capacity increases, Rosyth Tea is set to be part of the growing artisanal tea exports catering to discerning tea connoisseurs around the world.
Preserving a Legacy: The Rosyth Estate, situated in the Sabaragamuwa Province at an elevation of 1,000 feet, holds a rich history since its establishment in 1926. Owned by the Marikkar/Dobbs family since the late 1970s, the estate has undergone transformation in recent years.
