Terra Orti is a cooperative society founded in 1999 which brings together about 120 members located in various Italian regions. The agricultural businesses that are members of Terra Orti offer a wide and varied range of seasonal fruit and vegetables on the international market. Some products are organic or have a quality label, such as the Artichoke of Paestum IGP and the Rocket of Piana del Sele IGP. Terra Orti promotes research projects aimed at protecting the soil and the environment and preserving the biodiversity of the land.
Terra Orti is also leader - with four other producer organisations - A.O.A., Agritalia, La Deliziosa and Meridia - of the information and promotional campaign "I Love Fruit & Veg from Europe", co-funded by the European Commission, which aimes to promote fresh, safe, healthy, sustainable and responsible consumption choices in the UK and in several other Countries. Choosing European fruits and vegetables means choosing FRESHNESS (seasonal produce consumption), ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY (responsible consumption), WELL-BEING (guaranteed by the supply of vitamins and fibre), QUALITY and ORIGIN of the products (ORGANIC, PDO and PGI), SAFETY and TRACEABILITY.
