Our Barrica is the perfect starting point for a journey of discovery
into the special magic that occurs when wine made from the Tempranillo
grape variety combines with the aromas of oak. Barrica in
Spanish means a 225-liter barrel. Made with our own grapes cultivated
a few paces from the winery on the coolest sandy soils with a
greater amount of silts and clays.

The grapes were selected and harvested mechanically at night to
preserve all the natural aromatic potential of the variety. The fruit
arrived at the winery at a naturally low temperature. This facilitated
a pre-fermentation cold maceration which was maintained for
several days. The alcoholic fermentation lasted 7-9 days at low temperatures
between 20-24ºC. After 12-15 day maceration the wine
was bled off and the cap pressed. With the alcoholic fermentation
finished, we allowed the wine to rest on fine lees for 3-6 weeks to
achieve a greater complexity and unctuousness in the mouth while
it also completed a malolactic fermentation.

OAK AGING
The wine was aged in French and American 224 liter oak barrels with a
low-medium toast for 4-6 months. Some 15% of the wood was new, the
rest had been used once previously.
