Gold Stars for Cartmel Village Shop

Gold Star’s for Cartmel’s Puddings!

Cartmel Village Shop is delighted to have been awarded gold stars in the Great Taste Awards by the Guild of Fine Food. The gold stars have been awarded for two of their puddings: Sticky Toffee Pudding has received the much coveted 3 gold stars and their Sticky Ginger pudding, one gold star.

Charlotte Sharphouse, operations manager at Cartmel Village Shop says; “We made the decision to grow the Cartmel range of puddings and wanted to offer a core range of desserts that would suit all tastes and occasions. Having become so well known for our Sticky Toffee Pudding we wanted to make sure that we continued to deliver the high standards that our customers have come to expect. To receive gold awards for our trademark Sticky Toffee Pudding as well as for our Ginger Pudding is a real testament to the team effort that has gone into developing the Cartmel range. We’re hoping to build on this success following the launch of 4 new puddings this year, including a Sticky Syrup and Classic Jam Sponge.”

The Great Taste Awards are independently judged and considered the industries most trusted and recognised food and drink awards. For 2011, over 7,400 entries were judged and to be awarded gold, a minimum of 12 experts, must judge and agree. For 2 or 3 stars, up to 20 judges must unanimously agree an entry has achieved absolute perfection. Awarding 3 stars to Cartmel’s Sticky Toffee Pudding judges commented; “A lovely pudding, not too datey but full of toffee butteriness.”

The Cartmel Village Shop range has grown along with its popularity and now includes traditional Jam Sponge, Syrup Sponge, Summer Fruit, Ginger, Banana and Christmas Puddings to accompany the old favourites, Sticky Toffee and Chocolate. Along with the chilled puddings a range of ambient products are also available including jars of Sticky Toffee and Sticky Chocolate Sauce and Sticky Toffee Chocolates, completing the range of artisanal, handmade products. All the puddings contain 100% natural ingredients, sourced wherever possible from local suppliers.

Cartmel’s Sticky Toffee Pudding is available to buy in various sizes including 150g individual servings priced £1.40, 250g servings priced £3.05 and 730g family sized packs priced £7.60. Sticky Ginger Pudding is available in 390g servings priced £4.90.
